ANDREW HEITMAN

Mr. Heitman has been involved in the building systems design and construction industry for over fifteen years and is very well suited for providing commissioning and energy consulting services because of his varied experience with mechanical and electrical building systems of all types and sizes. Much of his career has involved modifications to existing building systems for increased operating efficiency and for the solving of historical operating problems. Prior to founding Building Energy Sciences he was a partner in two consulting engineering firms as a design engineer; since he has been providing building commissioning and energy consulting services to architects, engineers, owners, contractors, and facility operations personnel for a variety of commercial, government, and educational facilities. His clients find his ability to perform detailed theoretical analysis as well as practical on-site problem solving to be an invaluable asset for their facilities operations personnel.

 

    

In addition to duties at his company he is a Faculty Associate at the University of West Florida. For the past seven years he has taught two junior / senior courses in mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems in the Four-Year Building Construction degree program. He has developed and taught numerous Continuing Education courses covering Commissioning and Energy Management which have been approved in the State of Florida for Engineers, Architects, and Contractors to receive continuing education units (CEU). Mr. Heitman serves as the Chairperson of the ACG Energy Management Committee which has recently released a new Energy Management Professional (EMP) certification program which defines a structured process for energy management utilizing the building commissioning process as a core component. He has been a speaker at several ACG and AABC national meetings to present and discuss the new Energy Management Program and is the lead instructor for the EMP Certification Seminar. He has also been a presenter at several local industry seminars concerning high performance buildings and building systems efficiency.
